ELEKTROKONTAKT UKRAINE

After accomplishing long term restructuring in January 2008 the Elektrokontakt Ukraine started mass production of electrical cable systems for the world leader of the car production BMW Corporation. In the same year in February the company passed certification by independent audit company TÜV Nord to confirm Elekrokontakt’s strict adherence with international standards ISO/TS 16949:2002; ISO 14001. In June 2008 BMW Corporation conducted audit confirming Elektrokontakt as a verified supplier of mass produced components for its cars.

Elektrokontakt recognizes that well-functioning electric forklifts not only ensure smooth operation but also contribute to cost saving. Since lead-acid batteries represent a significant cost in electric forklifts, Elektrokontant selected EuroXpand Limited and its PowerBatt^® products for desulphation of batteries in order to maximise life and operating hours of their batteries.

Results and future business

EuroXpand desulphated 24V, 315Ah 2 years old battery, which due to undercharging was left with less than 20 per cent of remaining capacity. After applying PowerBatt^® chemical desulphator into each cell the battery was regenerated with a specific charging cycle, resulting in capacity increase to 87% of the new battery capacity. Battery improvement resulted in operating time increase from 2 to almost 12 working hours in the company’s operating conditions.
